Black Stone Cherry
Formed in Edmonton, Kentucky back in 2001, Black Stone Cherry built their sound on Southern rock roots and a shared love of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Muddy Waters and Cream. Chris Robertson and John Fred Young's friendship sparked the band, later joined by Ben Wells and Jon Lawhon, and their ties to Kentucky Headhunters royalty gave them a grounding in classic Southern rock craftsmanship from the very start.
From Local Gigs to Global Stages
What began as shows around their hometown grew quickly once Roadrunner Records signed the band in 2005. Their self-titled debut the following year brought a triumphant homecoming show in front of over 1,500 fans, while a live album recorded at London's Astoria captured the energy of their first international tour. Best New Band honours at the London Classic Rock Awards soon followed.
A Reputation Built on Live Shows
Black Stone Cherry have earned their stripes touring alongside some of rock's biggest names, from an arena run with Whitesnake and Def Leppard to supporting slots with Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company. A headline slot at Download Festival in 2013 cemented their standing as one of rock's most compelling live acts, and that reputation is exactly what draws fans back each time they return to the UK.
