Black Stone Cherry - the Celebrate Tour
The Story So Far
Black Stone Cherry began in Edmonton, Kentucky in 2001, when childhood friends Chris Robertson and John Fred Young joined forces with Ben Wells and Jon Lawhon. With Young's family ties to The Kentucky Headhunters and a shared love of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Muddy Waters and Cream, the band grew out of small-town gigs and farmhouse rehearsals into a full-blown Southern rock outfit, signing to Roadrunner Records by 2005 and releasing their debut album the following year.
Built on Live Shows
It's the band's reputation as a live act that has carried them furthest. From a sold-out homecoming show in Kentucky and a limited-edition live album recorded at London's Astoria, to arena support slots with Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company, and a headline set at Download Festival, Black Stone Cherry have built their name on energetic, riff-driven performances. This Manchester date brings that same live show to the Academy stage, and should appeal to anyone into hard-edged Southern rock with a strong sense of history and craft.
